Green Woods Charter School constructed a new three-story school building designed by J2a Architects.  The project site required all new utilities, grading, storm water management, and remediation of environmental contaminants. As part of the Storm Water Management Plan, a Pond was built along the frontage of the school to collect all the storm water from the site as well as from the building’s roof drains.  All storm water from impervious surfaces are maintained on site with no storm connection to Philadelphia Water Department infrastructure.  Along with the pond, a stream with native plantings was constructed with the water source pumped from the pond recirculating collected storm water throughout the site.  Construction of the building included conventional classroom spaces, multipurpose dining hall, outdoor learning spaces, a gymnasium, science labs, music room, and administrative offices.
