Keystone Academy Charter School is a renovation of former St. Josaphat's Ukranian Catholic School, also known as Mary Disston School. The project involves a restoration and modernization of the 100 year-old original historic building, which sits on the National Register of Historic Places. The other part of the project is the demolition of the 1967 addition and construction of a brand new 3-story, 45,000 sqft addition that includes an auditorium, full service kitchen, and 25 new classrooms.

Tacony Academy Charter High School

Tacony Academy Charter School hired BSI to manage the construction of its new three-story high school on Keystone Street in Philadelphia.  Designed by KCBA Architects, the facility includes science labs, a full service kitchen, and a regulation sized gymnasium.

First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter High School

The final phase of First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School, an American Paradigm School, was a new four-story middle school and high school.  Designed by J2a Architects, this new facilty is an expansion to the existing campus and includes a full service kitchen, two cafeterias, a gymnasium, and music rooms.

Philadelphia Performing Arts Charter School Vine Street Campus

String Theory High School was a renovation of the former Glaxo-Smith Kline building in Center City, Philadelphia. The project was split into two phases. The first phase encompassed completing the first three floors to accommodate the first wave of students. This included cutting two stair towers through all 8 floors of the building in 8 weeks in order for the students to be allowed to use the building. The second phase of the project was completing the renovation of the remaining floors. The project was designed by Friday Architects/Planners Inc.

Green Woods Charter School

Green Woods Charter School constructed a new three-story school building designed by J2a Architects.  The project site required all new utilities, grading, storm water management, and remediation of environmental contaminants.  Construction included conventional classroom spaces, outdoor learning spaces, a gymnasium, science labs, music room, and administrative offices. Wissahickon Charter School Awbury Campus

This project, completed as a joint venture with Dale Corporation, is a new lower and middle school facility consisting of two wings linked by a two-story commons space.  One wing contains 23 teaching rooms consisting of general classrooms, specialty classrooms (art, music, computer) and other instructional areas.  The other wing houses the administrative and common educational amenities (cafeteria, library, administrative offices, etc.) as well as a one story gym.  The commons space connects the two wings as well as housing the main entrance to the school, welcome desk, a central monumental stair and a series of large sliding glass door open to the school site. This project was designed by Studio Agoos Lovera and Metcalfe Architecture & Design.

Tacony Academy Charter School Rhawnhurst Renovations

Tacony Academy Charter School renovated and expanded its current building in the Rhawnhurst neighborhood of Philadelphia.  The majority of work included the renovation of classrooms and offices through new configurations, finishes, and equipment.  The project included electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and fire protection systems upgrades. The project also involved a brand new gymnasium constructed as an addition to the existing building.  The project was designed by KCBA Architects.

Mariana Bracetti Academy Charter School

Mariana Bracetti Academy Charter School was a revitalization of the former Northeast Catholic High School facility through the replacement of the entire mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems as well as the installation of new fire protection, tele/data, fire alarm, and security systems.  The building received necessary repairs and restoration to exterior masonry and roofing.  This project was designed by the joint venture partnership of SMP Architects and SRK Architects and was completed in September 2013

First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School

First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School: Phase I consisted of the conversion of a former industrial processing facility in Philadelphia’s Frankford section to a charter elementary school.  Classrooms, administrative offices, a gymnasium, and multipurpose room cafeteria were constructed.  Additionally, the construction of an interior 22,000 sq ft mezzanine with an elevator was also included in this renovation project.  The duration of this project was approximately six months and was designed by J2a Architects.

First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School Addition

First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School Addition, designed by J2a Architects, includes a 500+ seat performing arts theater with an orchestra pit. The balcony overlooking the theater has movable partitions which allow the elevated space to be used as tiered seating lecture rooms.  The seating in the lecture rooms include “fold away” tablet tops and power/data ports. The addition includes three floors of classrooms and a science lab.  The corridors on all three floors are located at the front elevation of the building and follow a radius clerestory glass curtain wall.  This project required a full storm water management system.

Global Leadership Academy Charter School

Global Leadership Academy Charter School, designed by J2a Architects, consisted of the conversion of a former West Philadelphia industrial facility into a three-story elementary school.  New construction included the structural framing of the second floor throughout, as well as the addition of a gymnasium.  A two-story open lobby and glass domed atrium are visual centerpieces of the school.  A full storm water management system was designed and implemented for this project.

The Miracle League of Northampton Township

BSI Construction, LLC donated Construction Management Services to The Miracle League of Northampton Township for the construction of new outdoor athletic facilities for special needs children.  Engineered by Gilmore & Associates, the entire site was designed to be accessible for all persons, namely those with mobility challenges.  A completely flat rubberized baseball field was installed on the site, along with dugouts, storage facilities, and walkways.  Additional amenities on the site include site lighting, perimeter fencing, scoreboard, and brick memorial pavers.

Pennsylvania Convention Center

BSI Construction, LLC was retained by the owner’s representative Tishman /Jingoli JV to provide Sustainable Project Management Services for the implementation and tracking of the project’s LEED Certification goals.  As part of the owner’s team, BSI Construction’s representatives tracked, organized, and submitted documentation for applicable LEED Construction Credits and performed daily analysis of all possible credits and documentation.  The project, designed by Vitetta, was awarded LEED Gold Certification in June 2011 by the USGBC.

Philadelphia International Airport

PROJECT: Overseas Terminal Conversion LOCATION: Philadelphia, PA

BSI Construction, LLC provided Construction Management services to the Philadelphia Parking Authority for the demolition and removal of the former Overseas Terminal Building and the expansion of the existing Economy Parking Lot.  Serving as part of the owner’s project management team, BSI Construction, LLC was responsible for coordinating with the owner’s project team, prime contractors, and the PHL Division of Aviation.  Designed by O'Donnell & Naccarato, the end result was the addition of new parking spaces to the Economy Parking Lot, the construction of a new salt storage building, and various parking structures throughout.

Frederick Chevrolet

PROJECT: Service & Sales Building LOCATION: Philadelphia, PA

Retained as the General Contractor for the Frederick’s on the Boulevard: Sales and Service Center, BSI Construction, LLC converted a former car showroom into a General Motors Compliant Facility.  Designed by J2a Architects, the prominent portion of the project consisted of the complete renovation of the exterior structure that included the removal of the existing façade, construction of a canopy entrance system, installation of a metal panel system / EIFS system, signage, roof replacement, and lighting upgrades.  The interior work included modification of the overall layout, ceramic tile, painting, and electrical upgrades.

Island Green Country Club

PROJECT: 18-hole Golf Course LOCATION: Philadelphia, PA

Envisioned to be an exclusive upscale traditional golf course and club, Island Green Country Club is comprised of an 18-hole championship golf course in Northeast Philadelphia.  Tournament gallery space, as well as access to first-class practice areas were included in the design of the project.  Site plan layout was a strong focus for the construction of the country club as an entrance road extending to the clubhouse, parking facilities for the golf course and clubhouse, and buffer areas surrounding the course are all featured.  The site also includes a clubhouse restaurant lounge, pro shop, and golfer education facility.

Island Green Estates

Completed in 2006, the Island Green Estates are a single home subdivision golf course community which compliment the Island Green Country Club.  BSI Construction, LLC handled the acquisition, financing, development, and construction of the 66 single homes designed by J2a Architects.

Philadelphia Parking Authority

PROJECT: Taxi & Limo Enforcement Division LOCATION: Philadelphia, PA

As Construction Manager and General Contractor on behalf of the PPA for the Swanson Street Taxi & Limo facility, BSI Construction, LLC managed multiple subcontractors and oversaw the renovation of an existing office building and garage.  Completed in April 2007, the design/build project consists of office, training, kitchen, and courtroom spaces.  The installation of an elevator, as well as the renovation of lobby waiting areas, were included in this project.  Automotive garage facilities to accommodate the Enforcement Division’s inspection activities were also constructed.

Memphis Street Academy Charter School

BSI Construction assisted American Paradigm Schools in transitioning a former School District of Philadelphia elementary school building into an updated charter school facility, Memphis Street Academy Charter School.  As part of the district's Renaissance Initiative Turnaround Program, the scope of work included removal of all existing school district materials and finishes, as well as outdated furniture and equipment.  Cosmetic repairs including patching of plaster walls throughout and repainting of all surfaces including existing lockers were also completed.  Additionally, BSI Construction installed new VCT flooring in all classrooms and cafeterias.  Per American Paradigm Schools' request, BSI also removed all existing metal window guards in order to make the facility more welcoming to the community.  The renovation work was designed by KCBA Architects.

Philadelphia Academy Charter School

BSI Construction was contracted to manage the repair and restoration of the existing parking lot of Philadelphia Academy Charter School's Elementary School property.  The work consisted of the removal of areas damaged due to bus traffic with the replacement of heavy duty paving.  The entire parking lot received a new paving course along with parking lot striping for parking and traffic direction.

Philadelphia Performing Arts Charter School

Devon Theater of Performing Arts

As General Contractor for the Devon Theatre of Performing Arts, BSI Construction, LLC oversaw the complete rehabilitation of an existing building into a state-of-the-art theatre center.  Following the abatement of asbestos in the existing building, improvements were made which included electrical upgrades, new fire alarm system, replacement of air handling units, updated plumbing, roof replacement, structural steel at the stage area, and updated interior finishes.  The final product, designed by J2a Architects, was a 400-seat theatre and lobby on the first floor and a balcony seating area with adjacent conference rooms on the second floor.

School Lane Charter School

School Lane Charter School’s existing facility was upgraded with a new electrical service, fire alarm system, security system, air handlers, new air conditioning, and fire rated doors, frames, and hardware.  Designed by Lighthouse Architects, the new addition consists of two floors of classrooms and a new gymnasium with automated gym equipment controls. This project required the installation of a storm water management system.
