BUILDING:
THOMAS HOLME ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The Thomas Holme Elementary School was a Design/Build Project to replace the existing school facility with a larger capacity, modern, 21st Century Learning Center with a sustainable goal of a LEED Gold Certification. The 141,000sf three story building includes conventional classrooms, dining hall, gymnatorium, music & vocal spaces, dance studio, maker space, instruction materials center, discovery commons, and administrative space. This building serves pre-kindergarten through eighth grades. When accessing the main entrance, a two story Welcome Center is the main hub of the school with tiered platform seating and a stairway connecting this unique common space to the second floor.
The building is clad with two types of brick, metal panel system, and architectural glass. The architectural glass delivers a significant amount of natural daylight into the building while also being the prominent architectural feature on the exterior of the building utilizing Dichroic Glass that brings vibrant color that changes with the angle of the sun as it moves around the building.
